PERSIST TO POSSESS – Isaiah 62:6-10
God wants to bless His people. Jesus has come to give us life and life more abundantly (John 10:10). You and I know the enemy came to steal, kill and destroy! We must stop the enemy from robbing our blessings and hindering us from possessing the blessings God has promised us.
Four key areas to persist:
1) Pray (Isa 62:6-8)
- i) Position yourself(Isa 62:6): know your position where God has placed you, posture yourself right, be a watchmen day or night – stay vigilant and watchful over the things, people, family, resources, ministries God has set you over. Do not keep silence – open your mouth and ask, talk to God.
- ii) Proclaim God’s promises(Isa 62:7-8): You cannot proclaim what you do not know. Seek God, His will and His Word. Know the promises God has for you and continue to remind Him. Do not give God rest till He establishes what He has promised, continue to knock on heaven’s door (Matthew 7:7-12).
2) Partner with God (Isa 62:8,9)
Obey God’s instruction, don’t get distracted. You need to do your part and labour for it! Don’t sit around and complain, murmur or even hibernate and do nothing till the next season. You need to step out by faith with the help of the Holy Spirit and partner with Him.
3) Praise (Isa 62:9)
Praise is a spiritual weapon against the enemy (2 Chron 20:22) and invite God’s presence (Ps 22:3). When you praise, u surround your enemy and take possession of the enemy’s gate. Don’t forget to praise GOD in whatever circumstance you are in! Life and death is in the power of the tongue (Prov 18:21). Declare words of faith, life, blessings, speak the living Word of God and praise Him!
4) Prepare to ascend (Isa 62:10)
Cross over and cast up! Leave the former way of living, thinking and doing things. God is calling us to come up, don’t fight down there. When God raises up a standard, it means that His work at the cross has created a standard against the enemy that cannot be overcome. God goes to battle for us! Prepare to ascend in your heart, your mindsets and follow God’s ways! You cannot stay the same when you ascend.
In Joshua 6:2-5;20 God commanded the priests to blow the shofar as the Israelites marched around Jericho. They surrounded Jericho with praise. Jericho wall fell when they raise a shout and they ascended, enter the city, fought and destroy the enemies to possesses the land. No longer being passive, waiting for manna to come down! If they didn’t want to enter in and fight, the city of Jericho would not be theirs!
This is no longer a season of manna. We have entered into a season of battle! You need to have the courage and boldness not just to step out of your ‘Jordan river’ – the place that separate you and your inheritance but to step up and ascend, fight all the way and step into the promises God has for you and possess your inheritance.
We need to persist in prayers, partner with the Holy Spirit, praise Him and prepare to ascend to possess all the promises God has for us. It takes hard work and heart work. If your heart is not right with God, you can’t pray, partner, praise or prepare to ascend to possess. Get right with God today! David said in Ps 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Don’t just murmur, grumble, complain or live with unbelief and forever live in your wildness, and never cross your ‘Jordan river’ to possess God’s promises for your life. Be intentional to position yourself where He has placed you. Partner with the Holy Spirit, let him take the lead, intentionally take time to stay diligent, do not give up, don’t detour, don’t get distracted, stay on course and learn to praise Him no matter what the circumstance is. When the right time come, step out to follow His ways and not your ways, step up with the mind of Christ and step in to possess your promise land. Amen!
